With Valentine?s day round the corner, business is buzzing up with related item. But Valentine online, one would ask??? Romeo has been collecting flowers for Juliet. One of Shakespeare?s most famous love-stricken character is keeping web users quite occupied. The game is a super hit, with about one third of UK?s population having indulged in it. It was initially commissioned by the Shakespeare Country Tourist site. The game is about collecting the maximum roses for a Juliet. And it fits real well with Valentine around and many Romeos are in line to woo under the famous balcony. Phil Hackett is the chief executive of Shakespeare country. He stated that ?I wanted to do a viral campaign, but only estimated about 2.5 million would play. The programmers have done a great job?. Although they are characters they are instantly recognizable and the environment has all the major landmarks ? you get to pass the theater, his birthplace, and Anne Hathaway?s cottage. It really brings Shakespeare to life.? He added ? Since its launch last May, it as generated more than a quarter of a million unique visitors to our website every month and a percentage of people are now thinking the Shakespeare Country is an enjoyable and fun place to come and visit.? The game basically took off from a viral marketing through the grapevine of friends and families although some of the users came through the direct use of Shakespeare Country itself. Kokodigital is the brain behind the game. Its director, Stu Howarth, said ?it is the most popular game we have ever made. We used Romeo who is probably the most widely known Shakespeare character and the game is loosely set on Mario, which is accessible to everyone. We were not trying t reinforce the wheel ? just make a fun attractive platform game that is the most accessible to the widest audience.? In the process of familiarize people about Shakespeare Country, this game has been welcomed by other Shakespeare organizations. A spoke person on behalf of Royal Shakespeare Company said that ? the idea behind the game is to entice people to come and visit Shakespeare country. So we think it is a good idea. Although it is not entirely representative of the way we perform the play, it is a good hook to get people interested in romeo and Juliet. It has proved to be very successful with 22 million people world wide playing the game ? but I cannot imagine that many people visiting? So go Romeo go! Get your Juliet even if it is just virtual!!! Happy Valentine Day
